Why is there a magnet on my level?
I just bought a new level. It was made by Swanson Tools. It has a magnetic strip running along one edge. OK, nice to be able to stick it on a handy I-beam or something, but I suspect there is a more relevant reason for this feature. What is the usefulness of a magnetic level?
Top or side of refrigerators, ranges, washers, dryers, water heaters, dishwashers, towel bars, satellite dish mounts, wall mounted light fixtures, steel doors and jambs, hidden mounting brackets for HDTV. Plus almost all of the above uses (except finding studs).
I commonly use 4 different levels: 6', 4', 2', and 9". The 2', and 9" are often the most useful, both have magnets.
